Today on the house floor, Congressman Weiner went on a tirade over the bill extending medical coverage for the first responders during the 9/11 attacks. The bulk of his anger was directed toward Republican Congressman King who wanted to add an amendment regarding medical coverage for illegal immigrants. Republicans stated the tirade was an act and Democrats that it was another way for Republicans to stall a bill. The situation in the Houses is bipartisan and will remain till the elections held in November. This explosion was out of the ordinary as our representatives and senators perceive themselves as gentlemen, maintain protocol, and follow these rules to keep their discussions civil keeping the profanity laced yelling sessions behind closed doors away from the public. The citizens want representatives who display emotion not robotic individuals concerned more with decorum than the people they represent.
Whether Weiner’s tirade was an act or genuine it showed the people explosive emotion as he was mad as hell and was not going to take it. We need more of this behavior in the government showing us they care, are fighting for us, and are not a bunch of quiet talking heads concerned about their own asses.
