Heading down route 75 toward his mother’s house at 70 miles per hour, the older man observed the cars surrounding him. The left lane is the passing lane for the speeders, the middle for those going the posted speed limit, and the right lane for slower drivers or white heads. The term is derogatory, but when used in the presents of white heads it gets more chuckles than evil looks or arguments. The older man visits his mother once a week; she is a white head, and is ancient at the ripe age of 82. She lives in Florida six months out of the year to get away from the Massachusetts cold. Her third husband recently died, and she is now in a predicament about what to do with her place here. His feelings were mixed about this: if she sold, he would not see her as much, but she lives next door to his brother in Massachusetts who is able to care for her if anything happens. His exit came up, and before he knew it was parking his car and walking up to her condo. Opening the door, he hugged her, went in, and asked how she was doing. She is doing well, but misses Sam. The place is quiet and she can’t wait to get back to Massachusetts and her friends.
